The New Face of Philippine Peso

This is the new face of our new 500 Philippine Peso Bill. Who says that President Cory won't be included in the new bill? I'm surprised! but hey, I'm glad that both of them were now part of 500 php bill. Ninoy is no longer sad. They now lived happily ever after...

I am late of this buzz, however, it's very interesting that BSP has a good taste. It seems that they really planned for this, "massive redesign!". They have also enhanced security features and improved it's durability.

Have you noticed something on this new bill? the design? correct me if I'm wrong, it's similar to the currency of Euro. Yeah, for me it is somehow similar except for the design and graphics. Overall, I think BSP did a good job doing this, however, there are some minor errors that they should fix like the mislocation of the Puerto Princesa Subterranean Underground River on the reverse of the 500-peso bill and the Tubbataha Reef on the 1000-peso bill. Anyway, here are the new generation banknote series.

On December 16, 2010, the new design for Philippine banknotes were released.

Did you know that:

The Central Bank of the Philippines issued only 300,000 pieces of this 216mmx133mm 2,000 Philippine peso centennial commemorative legal tender banknote.

The 100,000-peso centennial note, measuring 8.5"x14", is accredited by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest legal tender note in terms of size. 1,000 pieces were issued during the celebration of the centennial of Philippine independence in 1998.
